Jeremiah Samuel Mwawuganga, a teacher from Taita Taveta county has been arraigned in court for authoring a fake death post referencing TSC Boss Nancy Macharia. Mwawughanga was charged with cyber harassment contrary to section 27 (1) of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrime Act of 2018. The post was said to have been authored between 16th January 2022 and 20th January 2022, jointly with others yet to be apprehended. The Facebook post read; “Breaking news. Nancy Macharia is dead. Her body has been found in oyuu’s bed. It is alleged that oyuu madad her after she failed to kiss his ass. R.I.P macharia…..” ooh it was just a dream. May it be so”.

The prosecution claims that the accused person knew the information to be false and calculated to cause fear and panic to Dr. Nancy Njeri Macharia and her family. The accused person denied the charges and was released on a bond of KShs 650,000 with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 100,000. He will appear before the Court on 8th February 2022.
