Police in Itibo, Sameta, within Bobasi Sub-County arrested four youths for causing chaos during Deputy President William Ruto’s tour in Kisii County. The youths disrupted Ruto’s rally at the time when he was crisscrossing the Gusii region selling his bottom-up economic model ahead of the 2022 general elections. Chaos erupted during the DP’s rally at Suneka market where several youths were injured. Ruto was also booed at Ogembo in Bomachoge Chache constituency as he was addressing a gathering in the town. Sameta OCPD Benjamin Rotich, disclosed that the four would be arraigned in court on today, December 9, and be charged with being rowdy and trying to cause chaos during the DP’s Kisii visit. The officers were forced to fire teargas at the crowd that had grown unruly while Deputy President was addressing them. During his tour of the region. Ruto had gone to drum up support for his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in the State House race.
This comes a day after Ruto was forced to chase away hecklers from his meeting after a section of the youth turned rowdy. The meeting started off calmly, with several politicians who accompanied him to Laikipia addressing the youth who turned up in large numbers. As Ruto addressed the crowd, championing for his Bottom-Up economic model, the hecklers interrupted and attempted to cut him off. "Stop disrupting my meeting. You have the liberty to organise your own. I will not allow you to come to my gathering to heckle me. Let us uphold some manners. This is my meeting. Let us respect each other, go and disrupt your own speakers," the DP retorted, adding that they were indisciplined and unruly. Ruto cut his speech short to face them off.
