A prominent businessman from Kitale who shot a woman he mistook for the then fugitive police officer Caroline Kangogo, has been found dead. Trans Nzoia County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Francis Kihara, confirmed the incident revealing that the tycoon, who managed the popular Iroko Hotels, was found dead inside his house on the morning of Tuesday, November 30. He further noted that assorted drugs and juice were recovered inside the house of the deceased in Kiminini, and will aid the investigation officers to establish the possible cause of the death.
The tycoon's mother, Florence Muyundo, confirmed that she stumbled upon her son's lifeless body when she went to find out about his whereabouts. His employees had called her asking about the tycoon's whereabouts after he failed to show up at the hotel. At the time of his death, his wife had flown to the United States to take their last born to join his other siblings living there.
Muyundo, who is a licensed firearm holder, shot a woman he mistook for the then wanted officer Kangogo in July this year. The woman identified as Phanice Chemutai Juma was shot in the abdomen at Kiminini Market. He pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and was released on Ksh200,000 bond.
The deceased body was moved to Cherengany Nursing Home mortuary.
