Wycliffe Ombede , a 35-year-old police officer attached to Langas Police Station in Eldoret has been charged with threatening to kill his ex-wife, Grace Terezy Malalo, and her husband, Paul Makaso Malalo, if they don’t separate. This is after Mr. Ombede, educated wife till she landed plum job, then dumped him for another man.
Ombede has been charged that on December 22, 2020, at Ngong area, he uttered the words threatening to kill both Grace and Paul by uttering to them the words “I will kill you today, say your last words to your mothers before I kill you”.
It’s alleged that the accused was catering for the complainant’s school fees as well as her father, while he was then a police officer attached to Lunga Lunga police station within Kwale County while the complainant was a student at KMTC Karen campus.
The accused and the complainant continued with the relationship and they both were blessed with a baby boy in 2015, while Wyliffe was married to another woman whom they had two children.
As the relationship deepened between Ombede and Grace, Ombede divorced his first wife to give Grace way, to be officially married to him.
After divorcing his wife, the Ombede moved in with the children from the first wife to Grace's residence in Ngong and instructed the Grace to stay with them as their mother.
With mutual understanding between the Ombede and Grace, the two acquired birth certificates for the two sons of the first wife in the name of Grace as their biological mother.
During their marriage, the Ombede is alleged to have been harassing and seriously beating Grace the until she left him and took her son to her parents in Taita, while the Ombede took his two sons.
After completing college at KMTC in 2020, Grace was employed at Kenyatta National Hospital as a nutritionist, where she met her ex-fiancee, John Mbugua, whom they dated for a while at KMTC. The relationship rekindled and the two moved to Kahawa Sukari and got married in February 2021.
When Ombede found out about Grace's new husband, he started calling him and threatening to kill the wife if he does not leave her.
Ombede pleaded not guilty before Chief Magistrate Wendy Micheni and was released on a cash bail of Ksh100,000. The court has also ordered Ombede not to go near the complainant or to her place of work.
