Five people lost their lives in a horrific road carnage on Friday night, along Londiani - Muhoroni road in Kericho County, when their Toyota Fielder was involved in a frontal collision with a truck at Jambo Kenya Junction, a well-known blackspot, moments after attending a burial in Kisumu County.
An eyewitness insinuated that the Toyota Fielder was at an excruciating speed before it lost control, veered off, and hit the oncoming truck from the opposite direction.
The accident has been attested to the road being slippery, as a result of recent unexpected heavy rains in the area.
The truck driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to Kipkelion Hospital in critical condition.
The five bodies were taken to Kericho County Referral Hospital morgue awaiting postmortem.
This comes barely two months after five people also perished in a similar manner in July 2021, after attending a burial in Naivasha, Nakuru County.
